Engineering, end-to-end — with craft on every line.

Five ways to work with our studio, all delivered by the same small team of senior engineers and designers. Pick the shape that fits your problem; we'll tell you candidly if we're not the right fit.

What we do, in detail

Every engagement starts with a scoping call. We only take on work we can do well.

Product engineering
01 · Product

Product engineering

From zero-to-one prototypes to production-grade web applications. We pair with founders and product teams to take an idea from sketch to shipped, then stay on long enough to see it land with real users.

  • TypeScript, React, Next.js, and modern Node/Go/Python backends
  • Accessible, responsive front-ends with real performance budgets
  • Pragmatic testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end where they earn their keep
  • Launch support and a handover that doesn't need us to stay forever

Typical engagement · 6–16 weeks · fixed-scope or T&M

Cloud & platform
02 · Cloud

Cloud & platform

The boring parts, done once and correctly. We set up the infrastructure, pipelines, and observability a serious product needs, without over-engineering for a scale you don't have yet.

  • AWS and GCP — Terraform, ECS/Fargate, GKE, Cloud Run
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Buildkite, preview environments by default
  • Observability stacks: OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, Sentry
  • Security posture reviews: IAM, secrets management, supply chain

Typical engagement · 4–10 weeks · fixed scope

AI integration
03 · AI

AI integration

LLMs deployed as features, not demos. We build retrieval, agents, and evaluation harnesses on top of the Anthropic and OpenAI APIs, with the safety rails and measurement your product team actually needs.

  • RAG systems: ingestion, chunking, embeddings, hybrid search
  • Tool-using agents with deterministic guardrails and audit trails
  • Evaluation pipelines so you can tell when a model change is safe
  • Cost, latency, and privacy trade-off reviews

Typical engagement · 4–12 weeks · fixed scope

Design & UX
04 · Design

Design & UX

Design paired to engineering from day one. We build interface systems, prototypes, and accessible front-ends that survive the jump from Figma to production — because the same team does both.

  • Design systems and component libraries tied to real code
  • Interaction prototypes that test the hard parts early
  • Accessibility reviews to WCAG 2.2 AA
  • Brand-aware visual polish without fighting your existing identity

Typical engagement · 3–8 weeks · fixed scope

Engineering retainer
05 · Retainer

Engineering retainer

Senior engineering capacity on a predictable monthly cadence. Good for teams who need a steady outside hand — for maintenance, incremental features, or to cover an in-house team over a crunch.

  • Dedicated block of senior-engineer hours per month
  • Weekly planning, async-first by default
  • Rolls over within reason; we don't burn your hours artificially
  • 30-day notice to pause or end — no lock-in

Minimum commitment · 2 months · monthly renewal

How we work

A small loop, deliberately. Nothing important gets lost in handoffs.

  1. Scoping call

A 30-minute conversation to understand what you need and whether we're the right team. No charge, no pressure, no slide decks.

  2. Written proposal

A short proposal with scope, deliverables, timeline, and pricing — fixed where it fits, hourly where it doesn't.

  3. Build in the open

Weekly check-ins, a shared repo from day one, and honest status reports. You'll never be surprised by what we did this week.

  4. Launch & handover

We ship to production, write the runbook, and hand over cleanly. Retainers available afterward if you want us to stay close.

Frequently asked

The short answers. Longer ones live on the FAQ page.

Do you work fixed-price or time-and-materials?

Both. We prefer fixed-price for well-defined work and T&M (or a retainer) for open-ended or exploratory engagements. We'll recommend whichever fits the shape of your problem.

What size of company do you usually work with?

Most of our clients are seed- to Series-B-stage product companies, plus a handful of established teams spinning up a new product line. We're happy to talk either way.

Can you sign an NDA before the scoping call?

Yes — send yours over and we'll turn it around within a business day, or use our two-page mutual NDA if you don't have one.

Do you take on very short (one- or two-week) projects?

Occasionally, for audits or spike investigations. We're less good at small feature work on unfamiliar codebases — onboarding time makes it a poor use of your budget.

Tell us about the work

A short brief is enough to start a conversation. We reply within a couple of business days.
