Ava Chen
Editor-in-ChiefSets the editorial calendar, picks the topics we take on, and makes the final call on tone and scope. Previously a senior editor at a national newspaper; eight years at Nexus Dev Company.
Nexus Dev Company is built by a small, cross-functional crew working across three time zones. Editors, researchers, designers, and engineers — each named, each accountable for what we publish.
The four people who set direction, sign off on what ships, and answer for it when something goes wrong.
The rest of the team — small groups with clear ownership, no committees.

A few habits we try to keep, regardless of who's writing or what we're publishing.
Every article carries the writer's name. No unsigned pieces, no ghost-edited shortcuts.
Someone other than the writer verifies every claim before it ships. No exceptions for tight deadlines.
We publish less than most outlets on purpose — only what we can stand behind a year from now.
We work across three time zones with deep-work blocks and very few meetings. Writing happens in writing.
We commission a small number of freelance writers, researchers, and illustrators each quarter, and occasionally hire full-time. If careful, well-sourced work is your thing, we'd love to hear from you.
